Connecting at Broadway Covenant

Connecting in the name of Jesus Christ goes to the heart of a community of believers. Here at Broadway Covenant, we are committed to helping everyone find a place where they can fit in.

We do this by living out our lives in the name of Jesus Christ goes to the heart of a community of believers. Here at Broadway Covenant, we are committed to helping our community, the world and each other as we face the challenges that are all around us.

Children’s Ministry

Our Children’s Ministry is a place where kids can have a great big life with a great big God. A place where faith, imagination, and learning go hand in hand. A place where loving God is cool and kids rule! Our ministry serves infants through 5th grade. Check out all of the great opportunities for your kids to live their best life now.

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

— Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Sunday School

Children feel welcome and loved at Sunday school for preschool through grade school. It’s a safe place where they can have fun and learn about the joy of knowing Jesus. Classes start each Sunday at 9 a.m. during the school year.

BCC Skills Camp

Preschoolers through sixth graders have a great time at this week-long, all-day worship and athletic camp at BCC. They grow in Christ as they learn new sports, skills, and hobbies. It’s a blast for all involved…

Youth Ministry

The Broadway Youth Ministry exists to courageously lead students in becoming life long followers of Jesus Christ by being Hope and Life in our city, schools, neighborhoods and families.

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to[a] his own glory and excellence,by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, that through these you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of passion, and become partakers of the divine nature. For this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these things are yours and abound, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

— 2 Peter 1:3-8

The Ministry welcomes those who hear God’s calling to join in this mission. For information, please call the church office at 815-399-3296

Our Youth Director!

We are pleased to announce that Skyler Retzlaff has accepted the position of part-time Youth Ministry Director at Broadway. Skyler will begin his ministry in September. He brings a great deal of excitement for life and a passion for serving the Lord with kids. Skyler graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 2012 with a degree in Youth Ministry and is currently teaching kindergarten at Chicago Grammar School. Skyler and his family began attending Broadway several years ago, and he was active in the youth group. Information on Skyler’s schedule and when he will meet with students and parents will be coming soon.

Who We Are

Middle school and high school students gather often to have fun, worship, open the word and grow together in faith. Come join us, bring some friends and see what God is doing at Broadway.

Sunday School

Students gather each Sunday at 9 a.m. during the school year. Bring your Bible and your best, toughest questions. Learn, grow and hang out. And then stick around for worship at 10:15 a.m.

Skills Camp

Every summer Broadway welcomes dozens of kids to a week-long Bible, sports and skills camp. Youth serve as counselors, along with plenty of brace and cool adults. It’s a time to give back and pass on to younger students what you have learned about God.

Worship and Music Ministry

The Broadway Covenant Music and Worship Ministry, as one body unified in spirit and with a heart of purity, endeavor to glorify God, to humbly serve Him in a spirit of excellence as ministers of music, hope, and love… Each week it leads others into His divine presence through thanksgiving, praise and worship

The Music and Worship Ministry at Broadway Covenant Church is dedicated to inspire, encourage, train, and direct those whom God has called into the music ministry with a spirit of service, excellence, sensitivity, purity, humility and strength.

“and it was the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord), and when the song was raised, with trumpets and cymbals and other musical instruments, in praise to the Lord,

“For he is good, for his steadfast love endures for ever,”

the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.”

— II Chronicles 5:13–14

The Ministry welcomes those who hear God’s calling to join in this mission.

Prayer Ministry

The mission of the Prayer Ministry is for prayer to be central to every ministry and activity of Broadway Covenant Church and to support each person and each endeavor by specific prayers.

We pray for the requests received by phone, mail or e-mail, prayer requests cards from Sunday services and online from this website. In addition we pray for the needs of our church, our community, our country, our world and all those in authority.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

— Philippians 4:6

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”

— James 5:16

E.M. Bounds, perhaps the father of the modern prayer movement, wrote over a century ago, “God hears prayer, God heeds prayer, God answers prayer, and God delivers by prayer. These words cannot be spoken too often. Prayer breaks all bars, dissolves all chains, opens all prisons, and widens all straits by which God’s saints have been held.”

Congregational Care Ministry

The Congregational Caring Ministry desires to reach out to every person in a loving and supportive way. We have care facilitators that will reach out to comfort, pray and bring the love of Christ to you in a very personal way. In addition, we celebrate our congregation at special events during the years

Fall Kick-Off (9:00 am Sunday, September 13, 2015)

Church Picnic (following worship Sept. 13 at the Roland and Gladys Olson Swedish Heritage Park)

Care Groups

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

— John 13:34-35

God speaks and movement happens. Nothing can stand before His voice. At the sound of that voice, our passion for Him causes us to fall to our knees in humble praise, worship and adoration. In addition to this, we understand His desire for us to go about our daily lives in good works, while walking in faith. We are to share His love with others. That, also, is movement.

Caring for our body of believers may include joining a team, rolling up your shirtsleeves and experiencing the joy of serving others. Movement isn’t sitting on the wall as a spectator. We continually press in, constantly moving toward the mark of His high calling by supporting each other.

When we do our best with heart, mind and actions focused on our Savior, we live in the joyous power of His intended movement for us. We are able to see that His manifested supernatural power alongside our own natural. After all is said and done, we stand amazed at what the power of movement has accomplished!

Consider joining in this effort.
